Spotlight employee: Leon Cosgrove

After various interactions since 2016, the stars finally aligned for Leon Cosgrove to join the MineRP team as our new General Manager – Asia Pacific. With over 30 years’ worth of experience in the Mining, Information Technology, Oil & Gas, Construction, Transport & Government sectors, Leon is the perfect candidate to lead the charge.

Leon has worked and consulted for mining companies such as BHP, Rio Tinto, FMG, Glencore Coal, Vale, Straits Resources, MMG, Woodside, Iluka Resources, Silverlake Resources, Detour Gold, Trafigura, MATSA, IndoMet, and Newmont Mining. He also held leadership roles in product companies such as Vix Technology (ERG) and Micromine, and within various consulting companies including Wipro, DXC, and Solution Minds. His most recent focus was driving strategies for digital transformation, next-gen sustainability and digital capital projects.

He has worked across the full value chain and in multiple commodities groups, with a strong history in Oil & Gas, construction and finance. The practical expertise and knowledge of different industries provide new ways of thinking and looking at problems which will benefit MineRP and our clients.

With experience within senior management roles in IT as well as operations in mining Leon has gained the ability to understand the relevant challenges companies face when introducing new technologies and implementing change. Leon speaks from experience when it comes the value of digital transformation at all levels within a mining organisation – giving MineRP a valuable edge.

When asked why he wanted to join MineRP, he responds:

“MineRP is the undeniable leader in the platform approach in the Mine Technical system domain. With the capabilities to integrate MTS applications with Mining Physical systems, IT and OT domains, it is the only true platform for mining – and I need to be part of that!”

Leon is an extroverted individual with a wide variety of interests. He is a big believer in collaboration and working as a team. Keeping abreast of, and informing his colleagues of industry, market company events and trends is part of how he manages a successful team.

As MineRP’s new General Manager (Asia Pacific), his first tasks will be to further grow this market through delivering value-focused solutions based on sale transformational people, process and software platforms.
